Hello and a big welcome to Natasha Swan Ceramics- ran by me, Natasha Swan (with a little help from my pottery dog, Bamse, and my husband, Craig). We’re based in a little village called Islandmagee in Northern Ireland and really there’s no place we would rather be.
Natasha Swan Ceramics was launched in 2019 from my parents garage with a lot of dreams and a lack of money... but hey, we all have to start somewhere and the free lunches were certainly a bonus! A big shout out to my local enterprise board who helped me get off my feet and see my pottery dreams, eventually, become a reality.
I practiced making a lot of bad pots and thankfully a few good ones between Ulster University Belfast and most importantly The Design and Craft Council of Ireland ‘Pottery Skills Course’ and hey, I mustn’t have been that bad because I got some sort of award for graduating top student of my cohort- thanks CEO Award that money went straight to buying myself more pottery.
But less about me and more about pottery because we all know that’s what really brought you here... my current ‘Neutrals’ range was developed over the forever remembered and forever dreaded lockdown of 2020. It wasn’t all bad, 2020 was the year we slowed down, the year we supported local business and the year I said YES to less is more and embraced getting creative again. Being a self employed maker can have it challenges but thanks to a year of amazing online support Natasha Swan Ceramics survived and bounced back with more creativity, tranquillity and bad videos than ever before.
So thank you everyone for making this journey a reality, I really couldn’t do it with out you. I hope that with every piece you can experience the joy of owning handmade, deeply loved, imperfect pottery. Pottery that is inspired by daily life and made to be used accordingly... so sit back and whip out that packet of biscuits because you, my friend, deserve a tea break.
Best of wishes,
